Mrs. Preneet Kaur, Member of Parliament, Patiala said that the Modi Government should realize that if the three laws enacted for the farmers were so good then the farmers did not need to struggle. So, these laws should be repealed. She said that yesterday, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi had met the President of India to repeal the black laws on agriculture enacted by the Union government but the treatment meted out to the Congress MPs and others who want to hold a march in a peaceful manner, was also reprehensible. Mrs. Preneet Kaur accompanied by the Cabinet Minister. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot was here today at Saholi village to attend the last prayer (Antim Ardas) of farmer Pal Singh, who died during the struggle on the Singhu border. Mrs. Preneet Kaur said that we have stood firmly and will continue to stand with the farmers in this peaceful struggle for fulfillment of their rightful demands and repeal of the three black laws related to agriculture. She said that the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had already decided to provide financial assistance of Rs. five lakh each to the families of deceased farmers who lost their precious lives during the ongoing struggle. Paying homage to farmer Pal Singh, the Cabinet Minister Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that the struggle started by the farmers has now taken the form of mass movement and every section of the society has joined hands and stood by the food growers. He said that this struggle was for the survival of generations barring any party, sect or religion and hence it was now being supported by people from all walks of life. Mr. Sadhu Singh Dharamsot said that an ex gratia grant of Rs five lakh has already been given to the family. On the occasion, Mr. Amrit Partap Singh Honey Sekhon OSD/CM, Punjab Congress General Secretary Mahant Harwinder Singh Khanora, Chairman Market Committee Nabha Jagjit Singh Duladi, Chairman Market Committee Bhadson Paramjit Singh, Chairman Improvement Trust Nabha Amandeep Singh and a large number of local Panchs and Sarpanches besides representatives of farmers unions were present.

Patiala, December 22: Punjab Medical Education and Research Minister O P Soni, while reviewing the development works and arrangements for care of COVID-19 patients at Government Medical College and Rajindra Hospital here today, took serious note of the slow performance in the construction work and directed to complete all the ongoing development works by March 31.
The Medical Education Minister accompanied by Principal Secretary Mr. D K Tewari, who was here to review the arrangements at the government-run Rajindra Hospital, said he and the principal secretary would visit the medical college and hospital soon before March 31 to review all the work.
During the meeting, the officials of Civil and Electrical Wings of Public Works Department and Public Health Department, Punjab Health Systems Corporation, apprised the Minister of the progress of the ongoing works of the department and Mr Soni directed to expedite and complete on time. He also directed that the newly constructed institution building at the Medical College should also be brought into use.
Reviewing the arrangements for the care of COVID-19 patients, Mr. Soni said that although the number of COVID patients is decreasing, we cannot lack in any way, because even a single patient is important for us. He said that no leniency should be used in the care of all the patients.
The Medical Education Minister directed the Principal and the Medical Superintendent to make all out efforts to maintain the confidence of the people in the Government Rajindra Hospital. He further said that no stone should be left unturned to save human lives and every death due to COVID should be analyzed in detail. He also emphasized on the need for doctors to interact with the family members of COVID patients admitted at Rajindra Hospital through video call under ‘Attendant Call Management System’.
Meanwhile, interacting with the media, Mr. O P Soni said that the provision of better health services was the top priority of the Punjab Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, for which Rs. 76 crore was being spent for the renovation and infrastructure up gradation of Rajindra Hospital and Medical College. He said that some of the works at the hospital and medical college have been completed 50 per cent and some of 75 percent and the remaining works have been directed to be completed by March 31. He said that the Punjab Cabinet had also given nod to the recruitment of doctors and super specialists besides nurses and other staff in the government medical colleges and no vacancy would remain vacant.
In response to a question, Mr. O P Soni said that the Punjab government was also making all necessary arrangements including oxygen, ventilators to deal with the next wave of COVID-19 as the Chief Minister was personally monitoring for the better treatment of COVID-19 patients under Mission Fateh. Apart from this, preparations are completed for the vaccination of the pandemic, when it will be available in coming days. Replying to another query, he said that Punjab was the first state in the country to declare lockdown and advisories were still being issued to prevent the residents from COVID infection.
