Falling Temperatures Amid Covid-19 Can Lead to Pneumonia in Children & Infants -Take Extra Precautions

Patiala 22nd Dec 2020, winter season is just around the corner and with it comes a risk of diseases like Pneumonia. It is a disease caused due to the infection in lungs with bacteria, viruses and fungus obstructing the flow of blood and oxygen, by depositing a fluid in the lungs. Children are at the highest risk of pneumonia as their immune system is not strong enough and their lungs are not completely developed. According to research, about 10 lakh children in India, die from pneumonia each year.

“Babies and young children may develop pneumonia from respiratory syncytial virus and infants may get it from group B streptococcus at birth. Older children may suffer from pneumonia as the result of other bacterial or viral infections. Cough and fever are two of pneumonia’s main symptoms. Other symptoms include weakness, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headache, muscle pain, and trouble breathing. It is crucial for people to be aware about the causes and prevention measures for Pneumonia in order to save their children from this dreaded disease. Some preventive measures in cold months include keeping the children under layers, not exposing them too much outdoors, maintaining a healthy diet, and getting them vaccinated against flu and influenza.
